Barayih Salem is a interactive street combining arts, culture and business located in the heart of Salmiya at the beginning of Salem Al Mubarek Street; a commercial hub and symbol of multiculturalism during the 1950s. The name “Barayih Salem” was derived from the Kuwaiti term “Baraha”, meaning a yard. The pedestrian, car-free street is designed beautifully with a 500 meters’ urban walkway surrounded by lush greenery, seating areas, fountains and retail kiosks.
The project was a result of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision which aims at supporting youths’ creative businesses and transforming them into economic projects in line with Kuwait Vision 2035. Barayih Salem was therefore commissioned to be developed jointly by the Kuwait National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprise Development and the Kuwait Municipality, and managed by Cubical Services Company; Kuwait’s leading business incubator.
